allowing children the space to be their full authentic self among everything nature brings us

Meet Miss Emily

Dream it.

Every since I was young, I’ve had a passion for early education. I started babysitting when I was young and haven’t stopped working with kids since. From being a preschool gymnastics coach, to an elementary after-school program teacher, to an infant teacher, to a center director, to now, business owner for three years, I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything other than early education.

Build it.

I went to school at the University of Minnesota Duluth to study Psychology and Early Childhood Studies. I got my bachelors degree and started working at a local child care center. I quickly found my passion as a teacher. I started dreaming about owning my own school and what I would want that to look like. Flash back to October 2022, my doors opened and my first child began. I’ve never looked back!

PROGRAMMING

Grow it.

During the first year of teaching (and still to this day!) I am constantly learning more about my passions, interests, teaching methods, etc. My main goal was to allow these children the freedom and opportunity for intentional free play outside like I had as a kid. I have been implementing nature based practices into my program and continuing my education surrounding this field. This past year (2025) my school moved into my home to allow for more nature play in the large backyard and proximity to woodlands.

In my free time, you can find me typically on a trail or somewhere near the water. I am a recent new mom to a wonderful 3 month old boy, Weston, who has kept me busy. I love to hike, fish, and camp all year long. Winter is my favorite season as I love the cold and the beautifulness that snow brings to the land. I also love plants and flowers. We typically plant a flower garden in the spring/summer at school. The kids love helping me take the seeds and pushing them in the dirt along with helping me take good care of them. My logo for Little Seeds Nature School stems from the fascination of taking a little seed, providing it with the things it needs, and watching it blossom. It is a great metaphor for Early Education and my approach to young children.
